Katie Holmes Skipping Out on First Red Carpet Appearance Since Tom Cruise Divorce
by Marc Malkin
Katie Holmes was supposed to walk her first red carpet since she and Tom Cruise divorced at this Saturday's Dizzy Feet Foundation gala.
Not that we could blame her, but Ms. Holmes has decided to skip the festivities. Her rep just confirmed that the former "Dawson's Creek" darling won't be in attendance.
The foundation, which supports dance education throughout the U.S., was started three years ago by Holmes, Nigel Lythgoe, Adam Shankman and Carrie Ann Inaba.
Saturday's Celebration of Dance will include performances by "Glee" stars Harry Shum Jr. and Chord Overstreet, former and current contestants from "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing With the Stars" and the cast of the movie "Step Up Revolution." (While the highest price tix went for $400, general admission is as low as $35.)
If you remember, Holmes not only performed on "So You Think You Can Dance" in 2009, but last year she appeared as a guest judge.
Katie recently took Suri (on a commercial flight!) to visit with her family in Ohio, before returning to New York two days ago.
