Anne Hathaway had Claire Danes' blessing to go to town spoofing her distressed, excitable character on "Homeland." And what of Katie Holmes' blessing to assume her mannerisms on "Saturday Night Live?"

Not so much. But Hathaway at least tried to make the mockery into more of a mutual admiration society.

"I have not heard from Katie," the "Les Misérables" star admitted to Ellen DeGeneres in an interview airing Monday on "Ellen," referring to her Nov. 10 appearance on "SNL" in which she played the "Dawson's Creek" star as a guest on Vanessa Bayer's "Miley Cyrus Show."

"What I really wanted to have happen, 'cause this is the second time I did Katie [on "SNL"], I wanted Katie to come on the show and do me. And, I wanted to do this rap about how awesome I think Katie Holmes is...but she is on Broadway, and killing it on Broadway, so she couldn't."

Hathaway did, however, talk to Danes before the sketch spoofing Homeland, in which she played Danes' Carrie and Bill Hader donned one heck of a beard to play Mandy Patinkin's Saul.

"She said, 'Go for it,'" Hathaway recalled.

The actress said that she had a blast hosting "SNL," noting how the women, especially, "are really shining this year."

"I kind of have a crush on all of them and I just want to stop by the offices and hang out and braid their hair," she said.

"They would probably let you do that," noted Ellen, who got spoofed herself by Kate McKinnon.

All the impersonations, especially the ones in which she played Holmes and the more paranoid version of Danes, are "done from so much love," Hathaway said.
