Katie Holmes is slowly rebuilding her relationships in the wake of her divorce from Tom Cruise - and one recent reunion has fans all a-Twitter.

The newly single Holmes reached out to old pal Joshua Jackson to reconnect following her very public split with the "Top Gun" actor, and according to Jackson, the conversation was "very nice."

The "Fringe" actor told Canadian talk show host George Stroumboulopoulos that the phone conversation with his former "Dawson's Creek" costar was a great catch-up.

"Like any old friend, it was like, 'Oh hi, how are ya? What's going on?' 'I had a kid, it's crazy!'" he joked, reenacting a conversation about Holmes' young daughter Suri Cruise. "'Oh yeah, I heard.'"

Holmes, 33, and Jackson, 34, played young lovers on the 90s teen drama and even briefly dated off-set.

"It was something so incredible and indescribable that I will treasure it always," she told Rolling Stone of their romance at the time, noting that Jackson was kind of her "first love."

Fans on Twitter went wild over the possibility of a reunion between Joey and Pacey, Holmes' and Jackson's characters on the show, respectively.

"One step closer to Joey/Pacey being a real couple. Head will explode if that ever happens," one fan tweeted.

Since the show's end, however, both Holmes and Jackson have moved on, though they remain good friends.

In 2000, Holmes began to date "American Pie" actor Chris Klein, and the pair was even engaged before the actress called off their engagement in 2005, when she began her whirlwind romance with Cruise,50.

Jackson is currently dating "Troy" stunner Diane Kruger, and the pair has been dodging rumors of an engagement for quite some time.

Holmes is reportedly eager to reunite with her former costars - James Van Der Beek and Michelle Williams round out the original foursome - for a "Dawson's Creek" movie.

"(Producers) were begging her to sign on for a reunion movie," a source told Us Weekly. "Tom said absolutely no way and thought going backward would be bad."

Now that she and Cruise have split, however, the source said Holmes wants to "do the movie and reconnect with her fans. And have fun."
