Katie Holmes wooed for 'The Traitor’s Wife' role

Harvey Weinstein lobbied for Katie Holmes to star in a big-screen adaptation of author Allison Pataki’s “The Traitor’s Wife” at a Friday reception for the best-selling novel at the Modern.
Spies said Pataki — daughter of former Gov. George Pataki — told Holmes, “If you want the role, it’s yours. I will endorse it.”
The book’s about the wife of Benedict Arnold, who secretly masterminds America’s most infamous act of treason. Holmes left with a copy. A spy said Weinstein is among 33 producers currently vying for the film.
At the lunch, Holmes sat with Weinstein, Pataki, Georgina Chapman, Jim Dolan and her rep Leslie Sloane, and was overheard saying she’s in rehearsals with Melissa George for director Taylor Hackford’s ABC series about Manhattan high society.
Holmes also just wrapped “The Giver” with Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges, and will debut indie movie “Miss Meadows” next month at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Holmes, who’s a co-owner of Alterna Haircare in her spare time, also showed off a new short do for spring by John Barrett.
