It’s not very often that Katie Holmes lets her guard down. But the Alterna ambassador just gave a very candid, very endearing interview while promoting the haircare line. And we learned quite a few things about her. Here, our seven favorite new facts about Ms. Holmes.

• She’s a dessert person
Like the type of dessert person who eats a dark chocolate bar for dinner. (We can totally get behind that.)

• Her hair routine is very “simple”
Holmes’s go-to style? The pony. (“It’s easy and looks good!”) And she uses Alterna products to combat flyaways and get a smooth texture. (She’s not a fan of the blow dryer.)

• If she had the guts to make a major hair color change, she’d go red
“I want to know what it feels like,” Holmes shares. “Don’t worry, I’m not going to do it anytime soon.”

• She really loves the length of her hair
And she first notices how someone’s hair smells. (Remember that next time your shampoo shopping!)

• Her ideal vacation is somewhere warm and tropical
“Sand between the toes and itchy legs from salt water, that’s paradise.”

• Playing a Dr. Seuss character is on her bucket list
So is making a movie with an all-female cast starring Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Kristen Wiig and Cherry Jones.

• She’s a karaoke pro
Plus, dabbles in piano playing.
