Google to Launch Boutiques.com Virtual Shopping Site
by Erin Donnelly
Looks like we'll soon be using Google for more than stalking our ex-boyfriends.
This Wednesday, the search engine is set to launch Boutiques.com, an online shopping service that will feature virtual stores from top designers, WWD reports.
While Google has tapped designers Tory Burch, Tracy Reese, Oscar de la Renta, Erin Fetherston, Marchesa, Cynthia Rowley and Isaac Mizrahi for the project, Boutiques.com will allow any users to create and share their own online shops based on their style preferences, according to the paper.
Google has also reportedly enlisted Sarah Jessica Parker -- and possibly Katie Holmes -- to get the ball rolling with her own virtual store.
Sort of like a fashion inspiration board, and in a similar vein to ShopStyle.com, the site will reportedly send users to retailers' own sites to make actual purchases.
In other words, this isn't reinventing the wheel -- just giving it a fun, user-friendly new package and some designer pals.
More details are expected when the site launches Nov. 17.
In the meantime, we'll reconsider our Black Friday plans. Sleeping in and hitting a few computer keys sounds so much more enticing, don't you think?
Meanwhile, brace yourself for the tallest shoe on the market: the 9-inch Sky Heel.
