The Girl Next Door
Katie Holmes to Star in Fox's Ilene Chaiken Drama
Marking her second pilot in the past four years.
by Lesley Goldberg
Katie Holmes is setting her sights on broadcast television.
The actress has booked the starring role in Fox's untitled Ilene Chaiken drama pilot.
The untitled drama revolves around FBI special agent Hazel Otis (Holmes), who is in the midst of investigating a domestic terrorism threat when a personal indiscretion — an affair with a prominent general — shatters her life and threatens her career at the FBI. Now labeled "the mistress," Otis — wife, mother, patriot — begins to rebuild her personal life and professional reputation
Chaiken and Melissa Scrivner Love wrote the pilot and exec produce the 20th Century Fox Television drama alongside Judy Smith (Scandal) and 3 Arts' Oly Obst. Holmes will also exec produce.
Should the drama get picked up to series, it would mark Holmes' first scripted series regular role since Dawson's Creek launched her career. This is the actress' second pilot since she starred in ABC's untitled Richard LaGravenese drama in 2014. That project did not move forward.
Repped by ICM Partners, Untitled and Sloane Offer, her credits also include Batman Begins, Wonder Boys and Pieces of April. On the small screen, she has appeared in Ray Donovan, How I Met Your Mother, The Kennedys and Eli Stone. On the big screen, her credits include Lucky Logan and All We Had. She has a cameo in the upcoming Oceans feature.
