Katie Holmes couldn’t cope with cut

Katie Holmes knew her short hair "wasn't working" when she tried to style it alone.

The actress doesn't enjoy fussing with her tresses as she prefers to keep her beauty regime easy. She thought having a short style would be a time-saver, but has always regretted trimming her locks.

"When it comes to hair, I find it easier to manage when it's long. It's just more versatile. I liked my hair short when [hair stylist] Enzo Angileri styled it - he did the cut. But when I tried it on my own, I was like, 'This isn't working!'" she laughed to British magazine InStyle.

Katie has sported a short look on several occasions, including a bob with blunt fringe and a version with side-swept bangs.

The star is the first face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics and is a fan of the brand because its ethos is about embracing natural beauty rather than slathering on bright colours.

The 34-year-old star has never enjoyed wearing a lot of make-up and is surprised that her seven-year-old daughter Suri is so different from her.

"My daughter Suri is much more girlie than I was as a child. I was a tomboy. I rode my bike everywhere and played basketball. There's a reason I've always been seen as the girl next door - the 'natural' look on "Dawson's Creek" was me off-screen too. I went to an all-girls high school and we never wore make-up - it was all about getting good grades," she recalled.

When it comes to beauty looks, Katie always wears colour on her upper and lower lash line as it makes her feel chic. She likes Jo Malone's Orange Blossom Cologne because of the citrus undertones and Alterna Haircare's Bamboo Smooth Anti-Frizz Shampoo and Conditioner is her go-to hair line.
