Melissa George to take down Katie Holmes in ABC drama pilot
The Australian actress has joined the cast of an untitled drama pilot from Richard LaGravenese, the screenwriter who penned "Behind the Candelabra." Currently on the cast of "The Good Wife," Melissa George will play the antagonist to Katie Holmes' character in this project loosely based on "Dangerous Liaisons."
After supporting roles on "Friends," "Alias" and "In Treatment" among other shows, Melissa George has landed the lead this time. In the pilot ordered by ABC, the actress will play Margot Worth Cole, a beautiful and captivating woman who knows how to attract everyone's attention on entering a room.
This New York socialite begins to fear for her social status as her divorce from the wealthy Anderson Cole approaches. Then, when Margot figures out that her ex-husband has cheated her out of her due in the divorce agreements, she decides to seek revenge with the help of her former lover Philip, the only person she sees as her equal.
Katie Holmes has been cast in the role of the well-respected Ann, an Audrey Hepburn-like figure who runs a non-profit with her husband to bring clean water to villages in Africa. The character will become a target for Margot and Philip, who become set on ruining her seemingly perfect marriage following a dare.
Rufus Sewell ("The Pillars of the Earth") will also appear in the pilot in the role of Philip Fitzgerald Julien, the male lead. Israeli actor Oded Fehr ("Resident Evil") will play Anderson Cole, Margot's ex-husband.
